Ex-GM Tauron Camlost was interviewed by our ex-staff member Omega Man.
Tibianews: Hello viewers, today we have a very special guest. Here we have newly appointed Tauron Camlost, fresh from the rank of Senior Tutors! Thankfully for us he has accepted our interview. Hello Mr. Camlost!
Tauron Camlost: Greetings Omega Man and TibiaNews readers.
Tibianews: Let us commence with one of the most common questions, how did you discover Tibia?
Tauron Camlost: An avid gamer that I work with discovered it by accident. Several of us made characters and actually began playing that same day. Over time, my friends have drifted away and on to other games, but I was hooked from that very first day.
Tibianews:: Before being appointed to Gamemaster, how long did you remain in the ranks of Tutor?
Tauron Camlost: Unfortunately, I never wrote down exactly when I first passed the test. I hate to admit it, but I did not pass until my third attempt. They ask the sneakiest questions on that test. I believe it was early in the summer of 2004.
Tibianews:: Hell, three times... I can admit it took my fair share amount of times as well. It must have been quite the excitement!
Tibianews:: It cannot be easy jumping from a rank where you guide people in help chat or reporting names and statements to banning, answering rule violations and any other mumbo jumbo behind the rank of Gamemaster. How do you deal with the stress of 72 servers and the countless reports?
Tauron Camlost: That has actually been the hardest part of this job for me, accepting that I simply cannot help everyone and answer every report. There are times when it gets to be too much. Sometimes I just have to step back and log onto a playing character and have some fun or log off Tibia completely.
Tibianews:: Tibia is a game designed to give the player fun and enjoyment. Before your promotion did you have any loved ones in-game? How are they dealing with the new transformation?
Tauron Camlost: I have many close friends in game and I try to keep in touch with them as much as I can. So far, it has only made the time we do spend together that much more precious to me. Now that I am beginning to get the hang of GMing, I plan on spending a bit more time with them.
Tibianews::
Tibianews:: Carrying on from the last question, how did becoming a GM affect your life in Tibia? Is it still as fun as it once was?
Tauron Camlost: In some ways yes, in some ways no. I find it enjoyable in a different way. I get a great deal of personal satisfaction in helping to make the game more enjoyable for everyone else. While it may not be fun in some ways, it is very rewarding being able to give something back to this wonderful game.
Tibianews:: Wow, one day your playing the game with a few friends, the next day your serving the creators of the game as a Gamemaster, a real privilege
Tauron Camlost: Very much so I am honored to be able to do it.
Tibianews:: So, with all that said… how was your first day as GM Tauron Camlost?
Tauron Camlost: Scary and exciting at the same time. It was also quite a learning experience. I was so excited I set up GMs on 4 or 5 different servers at once and tried to answer violations on all of them. It did not take me long to realize that, while my computer could handle it, my brain could not. Now I try to stick to one server at a time or two at most.

Tibianews:: Yea, I can imagine… the excitement would get to anyone’s head though :p! However, a rather big question, something us viewers would love to know. What was it like being appointed to Gamemaster? What I mean by this, did someone find you in-game? E-mailed? If so, what did they tell you?
Tauron Camlost: I actually thought I was about to be reprimanded when it happened. CM Craban, the head Gamemaster, happened to message me in the middle of a rather heated debate in the tutor channel. I thought he was going to read me the riot act for arguing with another tutor. I almost fell off my chair when he invited me to apply.
Tibianews:: Do you remember his specific words?
Tauron Camlost: "How would you like to join in some rather more important debates?" I was so stunned I stared at the screen for about 5 minutes before I could answer
Tibianews:: OooOO la la hombre..... errr, oh wow Mr. Camlost, what an honour! ... how would you have felt if he decided to log within 4 minutes and 59 seconds of you not replying?
Tauron Camlost: hehehe, mortified!
Tibianews:: Hahaha, carrying on!
Tauron Camlost: That is a tough question...
Tibianews:: Tough is what we are, here at Tibianews!
Tauron Camlost:: I do not feel that banning a large number of players is necessarily something to be proud of. Hmmm... My second day as a GM, GM Elfarran Brightsoul and I happened to arrive on a server at the same time to answer a report. A player had a list of 8 botters to report. Between us, we bannished 7 in about 20 minutes. I think that was probably the fastest I have ever seen cheaters poof from my VIP list
Tibianews:: You are correct, sir. That is nothing to be proud of, which is why it was a trick question
Tauron Camlost: Robitussin
Tibianews:: Why thank you! When we look up Tauron Camlost we see a level 3, are their any specific servers you would like to share with us ? If so, is it pvp? Pvp-e? Non-pvp?
Tauron Camlost: I play a little bit of each, although I have been, shall we say, less than successful at PvP-E... much less
Tibianews:: Is there anything special about yourself you would like to share with us?
Tauron Camlost: Well, in addition to being good-looking, witty, intelligent, kind, and sensitive, I am also very modest. Just kidding . Really, I am a very normal person outside of the game.
Tibianews:: Did you know statistics say 80% of people who say they are kidding are actually telling the truth?
Tauron Camlost: Hehe, I had never heard that You do know that statistics often lie though.
Tibianews:: Well… 90% of statistics show that they are often tru….. uhh…. wow, time is cutting short here! Lastly I would like to ask you, if there was one thing you could change in Tibia, what would it be?
Tauron Camlost: I really wish I could wave a magic wand and teach all players English. The language barrier causes so many problems in game.
Tibianews:: With that said, thank you very much Mr. Camlost. It has been a pleasure and I hope to see you in the near future! Take care out there, it can be real dangerous. From Tibianews and myself, good luck!
Tauron Camlost: The pleasure has been mine
