Hello there! Would you like, first, to introduce yourself to the tibia players?
Hi Excessus, first off, thanks for the interest and also for the work you´re putting in on tibianews.net, I´ve spent some time on there and found the site to be both helpful and entertaining.
Well then, about myself... My name is Jan Pedroietta, but JP will do just fine to keep things simple. I am originally from Switzerland, have lived in England for a bit while doing a degree in Illustration and obviously, have now moved to Regensburg to work for Cipsoft.
As far as my experience with other games goes, I like games from a variety of genres, RPG´s, Strategy, Sports or Shooters. To name a few examples, I loved the Fallout Series, the Warcraft- Starcraft- Diablo games, the Civilization series, Baldurs Gate...and many more. I was also very fond of the Ultima series (4,6 and 7, to be specific). Other than Games, I like comics a lot, love to go to the movies and of course, really like drawing. And every now and then I play a bit of basketball or tennis as well!
In general, what are your tasks inside CipSoft?
Creating 2D artwork, like Illustrations and game content, as well as some Graphic Design tasks here and there.
Will you work as Art Director aswell? For example, will you try to convince the programmers that we really really really need colored lightning and particles system under DirectDraw (2D) for the spellcasting system... and miscellaneous Special Effects? :)
I will be working closely with Steve and Guido as well as our external artists to try and make Tibia look better, but I cannot tell you yet, if we will be able to address these specific wishes.
And... how is it, to work for CipSoft? How many times does Guido yells daily? :)
As you can imagine, it´s been a little hectic moving to a new country and into a new job, but the team has made the transition real easy and so far it really has been great. I guess Guido is holding back,
since I´ve not heard him yelling....yet.
Have you played Tibia before working for CipSoft; are you a Tibia player?
I have not played Tibia before coming here, but I´m playing now, so be nice to newbies...
Being a graphic artist I am sure you already have an idea of how you would like Tibia to look like in the future. How do you picture it? More photorealistic maybe?
We will try and keep that Tibia feel alive, so going photorealistic would work against that, I guess. But I think there´s a lot we can improve on, starting with the level of detail.
Can you tell us a hint on what are you working with, right now?
If you mean regarding material or tools I work with, that would be mainly Photoshop and a Wacom graphic tablet, and of course, paper, pen, pencils and markers... At the moment, I´m working on a few Illustrations for the manual, but stay tuned on that.
