Hello Tibianews'ers,

It's been such a long time since I've been active here at all. I'm sure there's still quite a bit of hate going around involving me and the previous staff, but that's alright; I'm just here to catch up with old people and maybe meet a few "new" faces (to me anyway).

Don't worry, I have no intention of returning to the staff to screw anything else up.

So how's everyone? Looks like Tibianews has changed quite a bit in my absence from Tibia. I took about a year "off" from Tibia, not hunting or playing consistently, just logging on occasionally to chat and such, and so much has changed.

Yeah. I decided to take time off from the game almost entirely right about the time they changed all the mage spells and such. I didn't feel like relearning how to play a game that I've been playing for years already, but like always, it drags me back in.

The cooldowns suck. If there would be hotkey bars like in the flash client, which could be even better written in a C++ client, then it would be okay to rotate. But everybody who tells me, that he likes the cooldowns in Tibia, doesn't hunt, strange but true. Botters sure have no problems to rotate spells. The better a spell is, the less point I see in using it because of the cooldowns. I tried ultimate tera strike lately and the cooldown sucks so much that I removed it from my hotkeys as soon as I was standing safe. So somehow I ended with mainly using the spells I used in 2007 when I retired.

I tried hunting a little with the new spells right after it came out so that I could see what it was like before I started whining about it all, and I had a difficult time at first. The ultimate spells are virtually useless now.

I get why they changed it, but they really could have thought about it a little more. Maybe balancing the spells' damage or resistances, for example. I know that sorcerers were severely abusing the UE on lizards, getting millions of exp/hour...it seems to me that the solution for that was pretty simple: Increase the energy resistance of the lizards, and weaken the fire resistance, since the fire UE costs so much more mana to use, therefore severely decreasing the chance to make money and increasing the chance to lose money, thereby reducing the chance of the abuse.

Maybe it's just me though. Seems like to me the solution wasn't to add ridiculous cooldowns, but rather to spend a little more time and balance the monsters better, since the reason for the cooldowns were to prevent vocational abuse.

Hum yes everybody says, that sorcerers were abusing UE but then, the highest levels are knights and not sorcerers. A lot of friends that played sorcerers have quit because of the cooldowns. I try to make others use Uh to heal their blocker, but they tell me stuff like "I can not make enough exp then". Which is kind of funny, because as a druid I always had to shoot and heal at the same time. But even if the attitude of some sorcerers is a bit unsocial, they were punished too hard. There used to be a sorcerer on cormaya whom I met nearly daily and after the update he told me, that he has no problems because of the cooldowns and even likes them. He plays WoW now.

hi you and your new signature. got me tricked there. i understand the reason for cool-downs but i think they, as always, overdid it. i know tibia can drag your down from a deep sleep sometimes. as it had done to me couple times. im much more determined this time.

Haven't spoken to you in ages, good to hear you are still alive and kicking. No hard feelings from my side either. No clue who you were referring to, but well, guess it doesn't matter. You did a great job for TibiaNews! I will catch up on this threat later tonight and actually reply something sensible.
