Picking on Knights Again? (updated by Rebecca Sniper)
Are knights really overpowered? Someone on the proposal board seems to think so based on this thread called 14 Reasons Why Knights are Overpowered. So ... there are 14 arguments saying knights are overpowered, but what is the thread starter really saying? Are knights are truly overpowered.. or truly balanced? You decide!
Looking for some entertainment? Peker Mag & his friends have formed a band to play at weddings or birthdays. This professional group is available to players as long as you schedule them in advance at the current price of 5k per event. As Peker Mag himself says, "Your choice u take it or leave it!" Schedule them for your event before they're all booked up! You can find more information here!
Every Tibian has experienced having their depot trashed, whether they were displaying an item (always a bad idea!) or just trying to move things in or out of their depot. It's frustrating to try and remove a pile of trash that seems to grow faster than a player can remove it! There have been many proposals suggesting how to stop this behavior; here Pacioks of Calmera reproposes Cipsoft make this action impossible, as they have done for balconies and backyards. Have an opinion? Want to show support? Check out this thread.
Since the patch, people have wondered what others will do ... will they stay on their homeworld or venture into a unexplored community?Zarocky asks if you will stay or go, but if you're leaving, he wants to know why that's your choice. Are you leaving Calmera, or perhaps you're thinking of joining ... post here.
Currently, it's typical to find people using multiple backpacks or key rings to hold the gold that they loot during hunts. Daloure proposes an idea that would do away with the seemingly infinite number of backpacks you can stuff into each other with the idea of 'money' bags. Want to learn more? Many Tibians are voicing their opinion that the Lightbearer Event rewards were not worth the effort. Many who completed the quest state they would rather have failed than wasted their time completing the arduous demands of the event. As Luryan Ravenhill says on the official Tibia forum,"We had a half-dozen [weakened] monsters respawn each hour, where we had to run-over, push, pull to have a chance to get our loot, people throwing things over the dead bodies, etc. In other words, those great friends we just made suddenly became our fierce enemies. In other words, we end up as we begun: foes became friends and turned to foes again." Cipsoft announced today that Character World Transfer will be available on Tuesday November 17. They are also setting up 3 newOptional PvP worlds, two located in the USA and one in Germany. What are your thoughts about this, will you transfer any characters? Join the discussion in this discussion thread.
Everybody has a different birthday and with that, there is a horoscope for each person. A thread has been created on Shivera forum asking for YOUR birthday. Every horoscope is accompanied by the Tibian creature that best represents that horoscope's original sign and characteristics. Interested in finding your horoscope? Check out this thread!
The guild Gurdians Of Tanelorn, an established roleplaying guild, has decided to branch out and host a Christmas event, which will will be held on five worlds, including Amera, "It's like a secret santa, you will send a present and receive different stuff worth around the same you gave." Sound interesting? Take a look here.
Lightbearer Update! On the first day, more than half the world of Tibia fell into darkness. Some claim it was bugs that kept them from success, others point to players with mischief in their hearts preventing them from keeping the basins alight. The question is now: on day three, who has the stamina to finish? The remaining servers are meeting the challenge admirably! Keep it up and you will all be winners! Good luck!!!
Many players feel the current autoban system doesn't work as well as hoped. Though many botters are banned, they return and continue their botting ways as if nothing happened. Jericho Moonshot has proposed something new: when the botter returns from that 30-day ban, they should be teleported to a 'botter island', where they're greeted at the temple by a rude NPC, and their life will go downhill from that point. Want to hear more? Take a look at the whole proposal by clicking here.
With today's server save comes the long-anticipated Lightbearer Event. This is a real test of cooperation and unity. We have opened a thread on the TibiaNews Forums to try and keep track of the progress across the worlds.
Good luck to every server!
UPDATE:
As of midnight CET, only 26 servers(out of 74) were still in the event. These servers seem to have been able to pull together and set up a schedule to keep the basins lit. That's good for one day ... can they keep it up for four? The minions of darkness hover, hungry to release their forces throughout every land!
A Server At War ... Again! (updated by Shadow-Cyborg)
It's a story as old as Tibia itself...after the death of a player, in this case, Xanelas on October 29, war was declared. In this instance, Undead Skirk, leader of Hell Squad, has declared war upon Onslaught and its allies. If you want to keep track of the frags, the easiest way is to keep up with this thread
Earlier today, the unthinkable seems to have happened again...someone has hacked a gamemaster's account! There was worldwide havoc, and it's been mentioned on the forums that this unknown intruder gained trust of a few players, tossing rare items from houses and even banishing innocent people! The occurrence is currently being investigated by Cipsoft, and if there's any new information on the issue, we'll be sure to report it!
"Official" Programs - Cam & Talk? (updated by Soleks)
Do you find yourself wanting to record your own cams without the risk of using an "outside" program? How about being able to voice chat without running any extra programs?Woso brings up old proposals for new discussion. Would it be a good idea for Cipsoft to release their own versions of (currently third-party) programs so no one risks malware or bans? It's been talked about before - does it catch your interest? Check out this thread!
Mint Arisin has made a proposal regarding features they feel should be made available to free accounts, reasoning "The differences between Free account and premium account have changed drastically." However, are the features mentioned in the post really outdated? Granted, the proposal includes limits on these updates as well as certain features that should always stay premium only. Do you feel free accounts should be given a few more perks? Weigh in with your opinion here. In just a few days, the thread has sparked some interesting conversation!
Cip Wants to Know: Lightbearer Event (updated by Toox)
Do you plan to help your world achieve success? CipSoft wants to know how many of players intend to participate in the upcoming Lightbearer Event, or conversely, how many of us don't even know what it is! Whatever is your answer, if you have a character level 10 or above, you can answer the poll here!
"Many of you know our lead programmer by his character name Akananto. When it is testing time, he is well-known by all testers. He is one of the CipSoft members answering questions and reporting back to you about the status of found and fixed bugs. Often, players ask questions about the programmers of CipSoft, so we CMs have stolen Akananto's lunch break to have a little chat with him."
If you haven't made time to check it out, you might want to take a look ... he's a busy guy! You can find the interview here.
Two of the most powerful guilds on Antica are currently fighting for power! Bey declared war on the Twenty Thieveshere. Though Bey proposed to fight using the war system, apparently they have not yet been able to come to an agreement. In any case, it should be interesting! Follow the (current) official war thread here!
You all must be aware that the patch is a bit late, and the website has updated its time to completion to 4:00 CET (10:00pm EST, 7:00pm PST). Patience is a virtue!
As announced on the official website, the patch is being installed now! It is anticipated that the website and servers should return to full activity by 23:00 CET (5:00pm EST, 2:00pm PST). After this point the world character transfer service should be available for use. Remember that it costs 19.95 euro for each transfer.
Ready your courage, spells, and weaponry, because the new war system is about to go in place! Good luck Tibians!
A Lightbearer Public Tour? (updated by Fluffy Sparklespears)
Basai is putting his best foot forward in preparation for the Lightbearer Event. He's planning to give a tour and explanation of how the event will work on Friday, November 6. He says, "...the Lightbearer Event is a community event that encourages group participation. Since Amera will need everyone's help to make this event a success I am offering a public meeting/walkthrough for any interested player." He points out one thing that players from every server truly interested in completing this quest should keep in mind:
Please forget your differences during this event.
Other servers might want to consider doing something similar before the event itself, if possible! Interested in more information? Check out this thread, and good luck to every server who makes a real effort to complete this quest!
New & Noteworthy Over @ Tibia (updated by TibiaNews)
Three updates from the official News Page over on Tibia.com
Retiring Gamemasters...
On November 2nd, the gamemasters Taghor, Blitzwing, Xadam, & Kajala have resigned, joining the ranks of senators. We'd like to thank them for their help and efforts over time, and wish them good luck for the future.
Where Oh Where Was The Halloween Hare???
Hidden in a pile of leaves, the Halloween Hare was sleeping and snoring peacefully. It took a few good shakes to wake him up and after a couple of yawns and stretches, he reluctantly told us what had happened. Guess what, he ate too much candy and got sick. He fell asleep, his belly full of yummy treats, and overslept Halloween! But there is no need to worry. He seems to be fully recovered and true to his vicious nature, he soon scampered off into the distance with a battle cry, threatening to ravage both Rookgaard and mainland. Halloween may be over but the wicked Halloween Hare is on its way to Tibia. He should arrive November 3 and will haunt you until the next days' server save!
The Autumn Patch (finally) Arrives!
On Thursday, November 5, the autumn patch will be released. Due to the complex changes, all game servers and the website will be offline from 12:00 CET until approximately 23:00 CET.
Bloodiest War Ever On Secura! (updated by Miu Alastor)
As you all know (and probably tested on the recent testserver) the war system will soon be implemented! Wars will be possible everywhere, even on the current non-pvp servers. For this reason, the Securan Guild Alliance decided to organize Secura's very first REAL war. The bloody battle will be fought between the royal armies of Thais & Carlin, which promises to result in a truly epic struggle! All characters of level 10 are welcome to join a side and wait for the day the protective curtain of "non-pvp" will be lifted forever! More information can be found in this thread.
Have you been wanting some new kinds of raids? Something a lot more challenging than a orc raid or one of those ever-so-boring nomad raids?Eifia has proposed just that! With his "natural disasters" proposal, he proposes 7 different challenging raids, some cities share the same raid, but for the most part each city has its own. An example is given using the city of Thais - it's an interesting concept! It might sound odd, but have an open mind and go here to find out what happens in the raid! Check it out!
Hatin' on the Snap-back (updated by Impulse Purge)
"Snap-back: Due to the no-blocking changes, if you walk against another character now on any server, your character will initially move and then snap back, just like when you try to enter a house to which you are not invited. This effect is wanted and not a bug."
There is a discussion of this new feature on the forums - is it useful? Horrible? There have been reports that some players have even experienced headaches from it. Others claim they can't play properly or even walk through Thais because just the effect hurts their eyes. Craban has made a reply on the thread, but it's still open for further discussion. Care to join in? Take a look here.
Look at any forum on the official world boards and you're likely to find a discussion of the upcoming Lightbearer Event, a five-day challenge on every server. The discussions range from personality differences to server-wide organization. This is an event that relies on teamwork & trust - Will any server finish this quest successfully? There have even been difficulties with the "test runs" on the two testservers. You can find that on-going conversation here. The rewards are promised to be worth the challenge, but only time will tell if success is within any server's grasp!
